Where are you from?
I’m a native New Yorker, but I currently live in Boston.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
I love spending time with friends & family. I also love spending time near the water; I recently got my boating license.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
I’d say my favorite quality about myself is my desire to constantly expand my world view. I didn’t get to travel much when I was young, but after college I went backpacking in Europe with my friends and ignited my love of travel. I also love trying new foods from different cultures & parts of the world.
What is your favorite cause or charity?
One of my favorite charities is called MercyShips. MercyShips operates the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world. After college I worked in public accounting, but after realizing it wasn’t for me, I started looking for other jobs. I ran across a posting for MercyShips & I decided to apply. I moved to Conakry, Guinea in December 2018 to work aboard the MercyShip for 6 months. It was one of the best experiences of my life & I would highly recommend it to everyone!
What is a quote or words you live by?
One of my favorite quotes is by Winston Churchill & it goes, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
Who is your role model?
I’ve been very fortunate in life to have so many amazing role models. I come from a family of strong women who have shown me how to be confident and successful in today’s world.
What makes you unequivocally happy?
My family & friends. Over the past two months I have thought about this question a lot, and I have come to the conclusion that the things that make me happiest in life are the things that to most people are just daily occurrences. The littlest things in life mean the most to me. Quality time with the people that I love brings me the most happiness.
Where are you most yourself?
I’m most myself when I’m spending time with my friends. I love to tell jokes & make people laugh. I feel best about myself when I’m making other people laugh.
What do you like about manakii?
My favorite aspect of manakii is the desire to give back. I love the fact that for every pair of underwear purchased, another pair is donated. Many women in the world don’t have the luxury of purchasing nice & affordable underwear. Being able to purchase underwear for oneself, while also contributing to a good cause is amazing.
